10 Billion Danish Crowns Invested in the Czech Republic

The giants in Danish business are investing in the Czech Republic. This was celebrated on June 20th at the TOP Investors Award event at the Czech Embassy in Copenhagen.

Through the years remarkable investments have been made in the Czech Republic by Danish companies. The investments have proved prudent dispositions not only for the investor organisations, but also for the Czech Republic, which benefits from the micro- as well as macro-economic effects. The investments also strengthen ties between the two countries and help improving European cohesion.

To stress the Czech Republic’s endorsement of these investments, twelve Danish companies have been nominated for the so-called TOP Investors Award. The twelve companies have been chosen through careful consultations with distinguished members of the Danish business community, the Czech investment promotion agency CzechInvest, the Danish-Czech Business Forum, and various public bodies. The twelve organisations are (in alphabetical order):

Bang & Olufsen
Dansk Eternit Holding
DISA Holding
R. Faerch Plast
Fibertex
KOMPAN
Lego
Maersk
Marius Pedersen
NKT Cables Group
Rockwool International
nb group.

The investors were selected for “a remarkable contribution, without necessarily being the largest or the best known organisations”. None the less, the total sum invested just by these companies in the Czech Republic from 1993 to 2007 corresponds to something in the region of DKK 10 billion. Further to this, many other Danish companies have invested in the Czech Republic, even if this is not focused on, on this occasion.

The TOP Danish Investor Award ceremony took place on June the 20th, 2007, at the Embassy of the Czech Republic, Copenhagen. In the presence of State Secretary, Head of the Trade Council of Denmark, Ambassador Anne Steffensen and Director General Mr. Milan Hovorka from the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Czech Ambassador Mr. Ivan Jančárek and the Director General Mr. Roman Čermák, of CzechInvest will hand over diplomas to representatives of the investor organisations.
