Facts about Fibertex

A nanometre is one thousandth of a micrometre which corresponds to the thinnest meltblown fibres made by Fibertex today.

Nanotechnology

The term "nano" is perhaps today’s biggest technology buzzword. But when Fibertex adds the prefix "nano" and says NanoNonwovens the word is used in its proper sense. The decision of the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation to support Fibertex’s initiative concerning the utilisation of nanotechnology in the develop-
ment of nonwovens has led to the birth of the NanoNonwovens project.

Superhydrophobic nonwovens

Superhydrophobic nonwovens are extremely hydrophobic nonwovens which at the same time are stain repellent.

Nanofibres

Nanofibres

Nanofibres are fibres with a diameter of less than one micrometre, preferably less than 500 nm. Nonwovens containing nanofibres have extremely small pore sizes, which are useful for filtering very small particles such as even bacteria and viruses. Nanofibres also have special mechanical properties which, for example, provide superior sound absorption.
